Portfolio Shoot: Laura T

Recently I got approached to do some portfolio shots for model/actor Laura T. We had a nice relaxed day in studio shooting with Rebekah Banks doing Hair and Makeup. We had so much fun shooting and I just wanted to share a few of the images with you all. Laura wanted a few different looks for her portfolio before she heads overseas, so we started with some really natural looks and then did some more creative edgy fashion looks. This is hopefully going to be a regular thing for me so if you know anyone that's after some nice images to build or update their portfolio let them know.

Inspiration: Judith Bedard by Filippo Del Vita for Soma Magazine

I spend a lot of time researching on the internet, in books and in magazines for new photography and art that inspires me as a Photographer. I found this shoot today and couldn't help but share it. Truth is, less than a week ago a did a shoot with an amazing team that featured similar content to this shoot by Filippo Del Vita. If only I had seen this shoot earlier and could have used it as a reference, then maybe my team wouldn't have looked at me funny when I said I wanted a 'bondage/fetish' theme to the shoot. It's always the same though, when you want to find something, you never can. I thought this shoot was pretty cool, and I love the use of colour contrasting against the dark mysterious bondage feeling of the styling and the model. My stylist, Rebecca Flavell, did an amazing job, as did the rest of team...Can't wait for you all to see my version!

"The Fallen" - Underwater shoot featuring India Wray-Murane

This is an underwater shoot I did not so long ago featuring India @ red11. India is a surfer so was amazing under the water. I wanted the images to have a very painterly feeling to them and evoke a strong narrative. I love the effect water gives an image, it takes you to another world, it's fascinating. Styling by Maria Shans, Hair and Make up by Olga Gill.

I just saw this and thought it was pretty rad. It's an editorial in the latest Flare Magazine by Photographer Chris Nicholls, featuring Catherine Dea and Katerina showing the latest winter beauty trends. I love the Retro feel to the Beauty shoot. Awesome.

Beauty Shoot: Maeghan Donnelly

These are some of my favourite images from a beauty shoot I did not so long ago of new model Maeghan Donnelly @ Red11. I teamed up again with the talented Rebekah Banks who did hair and make up. The beautiful flowers make summer feel oh so close!

"Within Arms Reach" for Bullet Magazine

I shot this editorial for Bullet Magazine titled "Within Arms Reach" featuring Rhiannon Smith @ Red 11. I worked with an amazing team and think the images really speak for themselves, they are so powerful and full of tension. Make up was done by the talented Grayson Coutts, Hair by Vladimir Moiseev and styling by Maria Shans.

Inspiration: Noah by Frank DeGraaf

I found this little editorial in the latest issue of I♥Fake Magazine and thought it was awesome. The theme of this issue was 'grunge' which is why I think I love these images, they're beautiful but have a slight edge to them, which is exactly what I try and do with my own work. The styling, hair and makeup is perfect for the feel of the shoot, I love the slight blur DeGraaf has created also! Awesome!

Model Test: The Lovely Lili

Meet Lili...she is one of my favourite models I have shot to date. We shot this in a small abandoned section in St. Heliers one morning. Beautiful makeup and hair was done by Rebekah Banks and Lili styled the shoot herself, wearing all her own wonderful clothes and accessories. These are a few of mine and Lili's favourite shots from the shoot. This girl is going places, there's just something about her that is so awesome!

Beauty Shoot - Halcyon Powe

Say hello to the beautiful Halcyon @ red11! I did this beauty shoot of her a week or two ago when she was over in Auckland from Sydney for Fashion Week. Makeup was done by the talented Olga Gill. I really love this shoot and the vibrance of it, perfect for the amazing summer just around the corner!

Fashion Week

I got the chance to photograph a few of the shows during Fashion Week this year, with very limited camera equipment I must add. I was quite disappointed in the shots I got but thought I would share a few of the ok ones with you. To be honest I found myself simply watching the shows most of the time. Next year I will have my new camera and really be able to take the photos I want. Bring on NZ Fashion Week 2012 :)

Beauty Shoot - Chantal Naef

This is a shoot I did very recently of the beautiful Chantal @ KHM, she was over here from Sydney for Fashion Week so I jumped at the chance to photograph her. Hair and Makeup was done by the extremely talented Rebekah Banks. I hand made all the head and neck pieces for the shoot to add something personal. Not much more to say than that, I think the images speak for themselves. What a stunning girl!

Inspiration: Georgia May Jagger by Kai Z Feng

This is an editorial that was featured in Australian Vogue Dec 2010 and I immediately fell in love with model Georgia May Jagger, daughter of Rock legend Mick Jagger. The editorial was shot by Kai Z Feng, I really love the attitude and personality we get to see in the mages, and most of all her gap teeth! So awesome!

Lorita and Aaron's little Bump

The other night I had the pleasure of photographing Lorita and Aaron which was my first pregnancy photo shoot, I've been wanting to shoot someone pregnant for ages, so (with some convincing) I got Lorita and her husband Aaron over for a cute wee shoot together. Really happy with how they turned out. All the best to both of you and your little baby xx

Underwater Self Portraits

Just recently I got approached to exhibit some of my photography, which meant I had to dig up some old work of mine from my final semester at uni...so thought I would share it with you. This was a self portrait series titled "I Of The Beholder". This is single handedly the most personal work I have ever done to this day, even looking at it now still stirs up many emotions. I worked so hard on it and really grew as a person from the therapeutic experience. I am so glad I did it. Enjoy x

Model Test: Simon

This is a fun wee test I did with Rebecca Flavell styling of model Simon from N Model Management. We didn't have much time to prepare but I love how the shots came out and love how his personality managed to shine through in the images, such a cute smile and man does he look good in a suit!

Inspiration: Paco Peregrin

I found this shoot "Fresh" by photographer Paco Peregrin while doing some research for an upcoming shoot of mine. I love it! Made me look at his other work and he is AMAZING! Such cool photography, I want to be him!

Model Test: Johnny Parker

These are some photographs I took of new model Johhny from N Model Management. The graffiti at the location was so awesome, a prefect backdrop for some relaxed natural images. This guy is so cool!

Dependence Day

This is a recent editorial of mine titled 'Dependence Day' in Renegade House Magazine. The editorial features models William @ 62, Anouk @ 62, Abby @ red11 and Jordan @ red11. The shoot was styled by the very talented Helle Weston, she even made her own accessories!! Make-up and hair by Asrita Singh and Olga Gill. This is a recent model test I did of the amazing Keegan from N Model Management. We shot it all at the Unitec Mt Albert Campus one morning. Such a cool dude!

My Inspiration

I'm starting to make a few changes around here, I plan on shooting a lot more often and have soooo many ideas that I want to do. This is my idea/work board that I use to help me keep on track and working hard toward my goals! I carry a notebook around everywhere I go as so many things inspire me, I write them down then they go on my board. Keep your eyes peeled, much more new EXCITING work to come :)

A Hard Day's Night

I shot this editorial 'A Hard Day's Night' featuring model Timena A @ Red 11 at the Unitec, Mt Albert Campus, which is actually where is studied Photography for 3 years! We were soooo lucky with the weather that day and I was really happy with the results! The shoot includes both natural lighting and on camera flash. Hair and Make-up was done by Stacey Martin and Styling by Olga Gill.

Surf Photography - Muriwai

I went out to Muriwai this morning and took some photographs of a friend surfing...first time I've tried Surf Photography, and first time using my waterproof case in the surf, scary at first but it did its job...thank god! Really want to explore this more, and maybe get some underwater shots!

Ixkin - She Of The Sun

This shoot featuring Sharni and Anmari was inspired by a Tribal theme with featured jewellery by Fingers. I added the scratched film detail in post production to add to the mood of the images and create a rough tribal feeling, emphasizing the make-up, hair and feather accents.

My First Wedding

These are just a very few of the images from a wedding I shot in the weekend. Was such a nice day (despite the rain) and was my first wedding I ever shot! So much pressure but so much fun. Congrats Lauren and Eric!

Inspiration: Yves Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2011 Campaign

Such a simple idea, but so effective! The video (directed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin) features model Arizona Muse with the song "Mushrooms and Roses" playing in the background. Multiple speeds and layering throughout the video, and the fact that it was produced in Black and White, I think makes it really intriguing.

I came across these images by Solve Sunsbo on Fashion Gone Rogue shot for Vogue China. I think the combination of the model with the ink looks amazing. Makes me want to try it!

Immiscible

This shoot titled 'Immiscible' featuring the beautiful Danijela Unkovich @ Nova I shot in studio with Styling and Make-up by Olga Gill and Hair by Vladimir Moiseev...you wouldn't believe it but in most of these shots its all Danijela's own hair! Such a cool shoot, the team and I had such a great day!
